Go away Roger...

Roger Clemens, one of the best pitchers ever is at it again. Last year he was 99% he was retired and finally returned to the Houston Astros after skipping spring training and a large part of the regular season he was paid him $12.25 million to play just part of the season. Now Clemens says he is 80% sure he is going to stay retired. The Astros are preparing for life without him, but Roger continues to be in the news. Where will Roger go? When will he decide to play? Why don’t other super-phonemes try to pick contracts like this? I think he is one of the most selfish players anywhere. Barry Bonds immediately comes to mind when I think of selfish non-team players, but he plays the whole year if he is healthy. Overall, this is ridiculous that teams depend so much on one individual, and the problem is he still seems to be worth the money.

I agree with your comments about Barry Bonds. Never liked him becasue he always seemed so wrapped up in himself as if his team didin't really count for anything. He was under the impression I guess that the fans came to see him, not the team. Rocket ROger is/ was a great pitcher but enough is enough. It is almost sickening at times to read about how much professional athletes are paid. I say once your retire, that should be it but we are a poeple of drama; we like to see if the "old guys" still got it. I would like to see Michael Jordan go up against LeBron James any day.

i too agree. There is an old saying that sports brings out the best and worst of people, and of late we have seen a great deal of both. Roger Clemens is a great pitcher, but all this pre-season drama is ridiculous. I think in America it easy to forget that this is just a game and that it really doesn't matter in the end of all things. Yet we still tolerate the Clemens' and T.O.'s.

It's nauseating to see sports players being paid so much money. We pay police and firefighters a mere fraction of what a stupid ballplayer gets. So what if a kid "looks up to" a baseball player, etc. What do they get? A lesson on drug use, rape and how to be vain. Disgusting. We need to give that money to important people out there.
